These Days Feel Dark >> Star Bathing
These days feel dark, hopeless and full of challenge. There is a newfound mystery and uncertainty clouding our abilities to fully show up and be present in our current world. It feels everywhere we look we find more conflicting information, more lies, more anger and it makes you wonder when it will end? When will we emerge from this dark web of confusion?
Where can we look to find meaning and purpose in our lives? How can we begin to move into the future, while so much of what we are going through feels as though we are living the past?
Being immersed in literal darkness may hold the clarity and purpose we are so desperately seeking.
Ancient people respected darkness and learned from the information contained within the night time sky. We have looked to the night time sky and stars for our direction, not only our physical and literal direction but for our sense of purpose in life. We can still find a living history and the answer to life’s question in the ocean of stars twinkling amongst the darkness of the night.
We are craving the light while trying to escape the darkness. We run from our shadows. The more we can fully immerse ourselves in the darkness of our times the brighter the stars will appear, guiding us into a new way of being.
When I am out laying on the earth in total darkness, I recognize just how small yet significant my life is. You realize how trivial the day to day worries are. You might have felt alone but the minute you lay down and quiet your mind, you feel a part of something so much bigger than yourself — part of the greater mission of the world and our time.
Loneliness and depression is on the rise but perhaps if we embraces the literal darkness of the night , we could learn to embrace the darkness and shadows within us. Because they are natural, they are normal, just as natural as the day and the night.
